better yet. does anyone have any suggestions for a twins setup to go with what i've got now. I would like to do it as economically as possible. Is it a bad idea to use the stock turbo in the setup? who all makes good reliable kits at a decent (comparitively speaking) price?

That appears to be a great price. Their webpage has the same price but I don't think the shipping is included

Stocker Twin Kit

I believe I would just call them direct as well as Industrial Injection, the others and get what info I could get and make a decision at that point. I don't remember anyone here ever saying anything negative about them.

Industrial Injection has a similar upgrade package:

Shop | Category: 2003-2011 Dodge Compound Turbos | Product: 5. 9L ADD A TURBO KIT

Relentless Artic Air has one as well:

Arctic Air Twin Turbos by Relentless Diesel Performance

And ATS diesel has one as well:

Dodge Aurora Compound Turbo Kits - ATS Diesel

Although these are all more expensive.

What route you decide. please post back with your experience as it helps all of those who use and support the TDR.

All I can say is that I have the ATS Aurora 4000 twin setup using the stock turbo and it's great! No problems, responsive, and runs like a scalded ape! I typically see 44-46 psi when I stomp it.

i have the older style ii tow turbos designed by nortwest performance. i love the set up. with my other mods i pulled a little under 26k total about 4400 miles round trip to moab,ut this spring. never had a problem passing or needing to drop it out of 6th except in the colorado mountain passes. i max out around 60 psi and i can stay under 1350 egt on 7% grades. with the water meth kit i can shift into a higher ger and stay in the power and stay under 1200 egt. remember you get what you pay for. also no mater how good the kit is there are some draw backs, like increased maintance, crowded enging bay for servicing other stuff and the need to upgrade other stuff like programing and injectors. i also have sealing problems with the pac brake back pressure. i have solved most of those issues with costom copper gaskets. hth

For the record, I still run stock injectors. Also, if I did upgrade my injectors, that would allow me to go to 50-60 psi, but would also necessitate head studs, which I was avoiding and possibly a second CP3.
The only reason I would want more power is bragging rights or drag racing. When I tow, I actually install a lower power tune on my Smarty, and still have never had to put the pedal to the floor.
Also, after installing my twin setup, I noticed zero performance gain using Smarty Jr. I needed Sr. to give me more fuel to light the second turbo. I feel I am on the brink of needing studs if I go any higher, and since I feel like I have enough, I don't push any farther.

I was hoping that twins and injectors would get my truck to where I want it, as far as power is concerned. Then possibly a can down the road. I'm only shooting for 600—650 rwhp. My truck still just seems laggy to me.

Looking at your signature, the only thing that MAY be making your truck "laggy" could be the edge EZ. I'm not familiar with it though. Smarty Jr or Sr really makes my truck snappy, but not nearly as snappy as a gasser.
I would suggest a Smarty Sr and play with the settings. You will probably be around 350 rwhp. (Guessing). Torque management and timing will "snappify" your truck, since you have a built trans.
If you do go twins, and your goal is 650, I think it is reasonable to assume you will be laggy on the bottom to make the power on top you are looking for. Seems to be a give and take situation.
My setup is the Aurora plus 4000, however they do offer a 5000, along with dedicated twin setups.
But like I said, with my Smarty Jr on highest level, I noticed no gain going to twins because I didn't have enough fuel to activate the bigger turbo. Sr changed all that!

I have Smarty. S06 POD with the tnt software. My truck seems to like the even numbered software's. The best option I've found thus far is sw4, timing 2, torque 4, rp 2. With the ez on 2 also. But I'm certainly open to suggestions if anybody has any ideas for me to try.

on my set up i am fuel limited. the injectors are too big for the cp3 and i drail the rail at wot. my twins are set up for towing so my truck is not that fast. is also a 6spd so shifting slows me down. the truck is still fast but not that quick. it is also fun to drive and tow with. even my die fard ford friends think its a tow moster. if the economy ever gets any better it will get a cam and new cp3. havent dynoed it but figure being fuel limited i am around 650hp ans 1200tq. sorry i cant help on the smarty settings the higher settings just allow me to drain the rail faster. unless you are going to upgrade a bunch of other stuff stay with 60hp tips.

I have the DPS S-400 twins kit. It is an S62 over a S475. I have had the DPS kit on my truck for about 18 months. Their turbos are quality turbos, their kit parts are good quality as well, the kit is easy to install, I would do it again in a heartbeat. When my stock turbo bit the dust, I got their S62 as a replacement, I liked it a lot, for me the obvious was to go ahead and get part 2 of a twins kit form them. I live at altitude, towing presents an EGT issue at altitude, my EGT's are now really low when towing, and the power is an absolute plus.

I have two friends who have the DPS 'stocker' over the 475, same kit from e-bay you are looking at, they LOVE them. Most all of the aftermarket turbo suppliers offer a 'stocker' over kit, I really have not heard anyone complain about using the stock turbo in a twins kit. It all depends what you are looking for power wise and how you use your truck. Give DPS a call, great people to work with, can answer all your questions, and they have a great bunch of products.

CDonaldson-I've been following this post and am interested in the same setup your "two friends" have. The stocker over the 475. Can you provide details on any other mods they might have done to take advantage of this setup as well as to keep the ride reliable. Mine is a daily driver and will tow a 32ft FW with tandem trailer numerous times during the summer. Also at altitude in Colorado.

Don't know why it's not showing up-06 3500 LB SRW, Snows Boost Cooler, S-06 (#5), 4" Cat Back MBRP to 6" tip, S&B Intake, CFM+, 50hp DDP, PML Deep transmission Pan.
