Opinions Wanted About Mud Flaps

My wife and I have just purchased (yesterday) a new Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. We will be towing a 23 ft. travel trailer with the truck, and would like some feedback on rear mud flaps.

We are looking for some that do good job of keeping the trash & slop hitting the front of the trailer to a minimum.
Anyone have any experience and/or preferences either for or against any particular brand or style?

The kind that stop the most trash are the ugly ones that are the full width of the truck and almost drag on the ground. They are removable when not towing. If you tow a 5th wheel some fit in the trailer hitch. Towing a travel trailer some bolt outside around the square hitch extension.

I have duraflaps and a set of enkay hitch mounted flaps. I do a LOT of dirt/gravel road towing and both are needed and even then they do not stop everything.

I have OEM mud flaps behind the front and rear wheels as well as a home-made set that is easily removable from the hitch. My brother has the Duraflaps and Rock Tamers which he would recommend. I don't like the Rock Tamers because they are difficult to remove and handle while being part of the hitch.

You might want to run down your road with someone behind you to watch. That Rock Tamer may be hitting the ground, or just close enough to create a wind tunnel effect and actually be throwing rocks up. Then remove the rock tamer one time and try it again to see if that is the problem.

I set my airbag pressure to give me about 2" of spacing statically and having ran without it I know it helps, the little rocks just like to fly everywhere
