A couple of days ago I noticed the electric locks worked, but no lights or chirp when I locked/unlocked the truck. Wondered if the hand remote was acting up as the one in my '99 used too.

I had been on MPG on the overhead console, but yesterday I switched it to direction and temp. Temp had 2 dashed lines but direction was fine.

But I didn't connect the dots...

Went to clean a few bugs off the windshield and no wipers.

Still didn't connect the dots.....

I run the headlights during the day often and the remember the lights chime workd to remind me. Hadn't run at night so I thought all was OK.

Went out tonight and noticed no headlights so I checked a few other electricla items.

Here is what I know doesn't worK

Headlights; fog lamps; parking lights; left/right turn; tail lights; brake lights; security alarm; windshield washer. probably more.

Here is what does work; all dash lights including turn indicators; over head cab light; power windows; A/C controols; radio; third brake light on top of cab.

All I can figure is Sat?? I must have bumped a wrench across the battery posts, but I sure didn't notice anything. .

Any ideas?? Thanks, doc

I'd call a dealer on the phone and pose the problem, asking particularly if there are any fusible links that would cause those symptoms. Might even call a couple of different ones if the first didn't solve it. Checking fuses, of course, goes without saying. (could you blow 5 or 10 of them at the same time ???)

Good luck and let us know what it is. .

I would check the number 11 and 13 fuses (both 30A) as most of the items you say don't work are controlled by the FCM (Front Control Module) and these fuses are power feed to it. Shop manual doesnot break down what parts of FCM each fuse is for.

Thanks

Thanks for the input.

I took the truck to the dealer and they are troublshooting the problem per D/C for warranty requirements.

Hopefully it will be fixed before too long.

I will let you know what they found.

Thanks again, doc

Talked to the tech working on my truck today.

He installedx an new Front Control Module and there is still a problem. He has checked all the fuses and relay's. He has checked the continueity if the circuits into the FCM and out. all seem OK.

Now he is looking into there being a problem with the BUS between the FCM and the other control modules. Couldn't find anything in the Tech Manual so on Monday he will call Star and/or Chrysler.

I asked about having a bad FCM? He said possible, but doubtful it would have the same failure as the old one.

Will know more Monday.

Have a good weekend, doc

Truck Lives!!

Finally picked up my revived truck late yesterday.

The tech found a ground problem and traced it to the IPM (Interal Power Module?) He ordered a new on and broke open the old one. he found two leads on the circuit board blown open most likely from a high voltage surge.

Put the new one in, tested everything and it all works. My cost $00. 00

Love that warranty!! Then I found out about the 25K mile service Basic is $489 and premium is $589!!!!

Time for Amsoil all around and I can change my own fuel filters. but I can't flush the cooling system.

Later, doc
