I had a Yellow Top in my last Jeep, and it did well. My current jeep has a Sears Diehard Platinum, which is a rebadged Odessey Battery. Price is slightly higher than the Optimas, but they do go on sale from time to time for less. The reports on the newer Optimas on the Jeep forums I go on have been saying they aren't holding up as well as they used to be. Just what I've read.

The only thing I don't like about the Optimas red or yellow tops is if you run the down (dead) they can be real hard to bring back to life. If you get them read save the paper work that comes with them for charging.
I've used them pretty regularly. I get them 5 fingered discounted from a local truck manufacturer that throws them in the dumpster... . I don't get it, they could send them back(or charge them!!), but if they're dead, they just throw them away... . Anway. The Optimas built in the last few years are not what they were 5-10 years ago. The Odyssey batteries last longer. I've also had good service with the Orielly's brand of AGM(Exide), much cheaper than the Optima's... .
I have a red top that is 5 years old in my CJ7. Before that I had a another red top but left the battery maintainer off of it one winter and I could never bring it back to life after that.
Lesson learned. Keep it charged and you should be ok!
Thanks for the input, i have been looking at the yellow top optimas and the diehards, mine are 6 years old now, my 01 dually's batteries conked out after 5yrs. , figure these won't make it too much longer, Thanks again, i'll post what i buy, Monte
