I saw where someone was talking about cutting the orange & white wire on the fire wall to disable speed limiter. Does this work? as anyne tried it? Any egative effects from doing this?
With my Banks big hoss chip it limited me to 90mph. When I cut the orange wire with a white tracer above the fuel filter the limiter was gone. The only negative effect was my grid heaters didn't work anymore. I installed a switch inline and now I have the choice between unlimited speed and grid heaters. If you live in a hot climate I wouldn't even worry about the heaters but up here in canada it gets dang cold in the winter.
my truck is an early 2001HO. I spoke with banks and they new about this problem and it only happened with the early year 2001's. They had no solutions for me so I looked elsewhere.
You may find when cut the wire you will eliminate the speed limiter but you will loose your speedometer also. My 98. 5 24 valve has a toggle switch through the wire so I can turn on the limiter/speedo when I want to know how fast I am going and shut it off when I do not have time to look at the speedo anyway (racing!!!!)
There is no Orange wire with white tracer on my 01' HO. There are three orange and black wires and oe solid orange wire. So which ine is it? It is located above the filter housing, rght? Where the 2 big plug connectors are?
