Not so much of an order cut off date as much as make sure its built before 1-1-04. I say order by September at the very latest and earlier if you want something really unique that could take some time for the production line to build.

If memory serves me correct, they quit taking orders for the 02 around July. The new models usually hit the lots in Sept.

My small, isolated opinion....

The word is, the EGR will go on the trucks after the first of the year. However, I can't help but think they'd do all the changes when they switch over the tooling, etc. for the new model year (admittedly, I don't know how much goes into a modern changeover). IOW, I wouldn't be completely surprised if all the '04's get it (but I sure hope not  ). Disclaimer; this is my own theory, and it goes against just about everything I've heard or read.

I haven't heard what else to look forward to in next year's models. Hopefully the new variable-geometry turbos will happen but, again, it seems like they'd do all these big engine changes at the same time. D/C may increase the overall power ratings, but a few hundred bucks will do the same (box).

I decided not to gamble. Incentives were still good when I ordered, and the prices just keep going up (Truck-of the-Year didn't help that either). Any major problems with the '03's (early injector failure) should be figured out in the next 7 years, and covered under warranty.

Jan trucks my quess...

The 1995 emisssion change to include Catallic converts occured January 1 1995. Mid model year.

The 24V change occurred January 1, 1999 mid model year.

Engines built today go into trucks within days or week max (guessing). I would guess this will belayed until the day is HAS to occur.

I think the changeover date will be pretty definite, everything rolling off the assembly lines until Dec 31st should have the non-EGR engines. Cummins makes these engines for many applications and if there are non-EGR units left over, they can be used in many other applications where these ridiculous emissions regulations don't apply to the degree they for on-road vehicles.

Cut off date is usually around the first of May for retail. I know the cut off dates for fleet orders is 4\18\03 for 2500\3500trucks:cool:
