Having brake issues on 96 2500 4x4 with 4 wheel abs.

Put truck on jackstands.

In 4 wheel drive, right rear stops first, then right front, then left front, then left rear. Left rear took a lot longer.

Going to have drums checked for size and round. Going to measure shoes.

What else should i do since i then took off all four wheels for better access.

On the rear when you put the drums back on adjust so brakes are tight (so wheels won't turn) then back off. Remember how many times you back off (turns so you can do the same amount on the opposite side). This way both sides will stop at approximately the same time.

Sears will turn drums for $11. 00 each. No other machine shops around.

I think I'd prefer Sears to a brake shop; just think they'll be better trained.

I would install GM one ton wheel cylinders. I would also pin up/bypass your rear proportioning valve. That way you will actually have working rear brakes.

The single piston calipers have a tendency to stick. I found just compressing and lubing the front calipers helps with the pulling. It doesn't totally fix the issue, but it beats buying calipers every 10,000 miles.

Yesterday bought the gm one ton cylinders :)

The brake line on the rear axle has a rubber flex line coming vertical out of the litle manifold, it goes up under the bed and dead ends. Wonder if that mod has already been done?

I believe the bolt that secures the brake lin fitting to the axle housing is hollow and is as reported above, the vent. bg

In my wildest dreams, I would have never guessed I would have read that statement today. Our area is not recognized for having good luck at sears for repair. They have a hard enough time repairing/warranting broken craftsman tools.
