Ordered 11' Laramie H.O. and Production is on Hold

The good news:

Yesterday I ordered a loaded 2011. 5 Laramie 4x4 Mega Cab 3500 SRW with the new H. O. Engine.

The Bad News:

My dealer call me today and told me the truck is on a Production Hold. :{

He will get more info on what the "Hold" is by week end. Anybody have experience with production holds? Is Dodge just "building up" orders to start production or is this more that likely a "parts" problem?

What color did you order? There's another thread in the 4th generation forums that details lack of paint availability because of a constituent that's manufactured only in Japan where the plant was damaged by the earthquake and Tsunami.

I ordered the "Bright White" with the dark slate (black) interior.

Hmmmm... . I don't recall seeing bright white being on restriction. Your dealer should be able to pull up your order and see which option is holding it up.

I was thinking it may the H. O. Motor or the spray in bed liner. I have every O. E. Factory option ordered but the sunroof.

For the most part it is. I have had several, always up grading but by far the G#RS is the best yet. I run NASA TT events with it.

Why not get the sunroof?



Nice stable of vehicles, by the way! Is your GT3RS a track toy?

On the 4th Gen trucks the seats sit a bit taller than the 3rd Gens and the sunroof reduces the head room considerably. I'm 6'3" with a tall torso and if I wear a baseball hat it touches the ceiling even with the seat all of the way down. In a truck without a sunrooof I have a couple inches of clearance.

Aha. I have the sunroof on my 08 and have plenty of head room (being just 6'2"). I agree - I'd give up the sunroof if my head was that close to the ceiling!



Actually, it would have been nice NOT to have the sunroof when a golf ball shattered it a year ago... (I didn't know that happened)... . and then we had 3 days of torrential rain! Buying a house on a golf course seemed like such a good idea at the time...

Well got an update from dealer and the order is in and confirmed. However, the dealer has not been given a VIN yet. I was told when the dealer gets the VIN they will also have a production / finish date for my truck. Dealers is telling me it looks like a July delivery for the Mega Cab H. O. Models. We will see I guess.

My father just ordered an 11' dually and has been told about the delay if you ordered 4. 10 gears as they apparently made some changes with the new HO CTD. He is also got in under the wire having ordered the Blue which was apparently effected by pigmintation availability issues due to the Tsunami in Japan.

Other than the obvious, is there a difference in the trucks when ordering 4. 10 vs. 3. 73's ? I'm thinking the 4. 10's have that special finned rear axle and some other items, yet I don't see anywhere that specifically mentions a 'Max Tow Pkg' that I think is the 4. 10 ?

Max Tow Package won't be available until 2012 according to the Ram Truck engineer I spoke with. Allpar.com has a great write up on the changes. Here is the link.
