Well after about a month and about 1500 miles my carter 4601HP pump gave up. Went from 11 psi at idle to 3 psi when the light turned green :( . People were not too happy with me when I just limped it around the corner. I called Rip up and ordered a FASS from him guess my credit card is going to hate me this month, but the truck should be happy :D . Just hope the pump will last alot longer than the 2 year wattanty.

So does anyone know what the fass has for inlet and outlet, is it 3/8 NPT or what? I have the -8 lines and want to just splice the FASS in. Also I remember someone running the stock filter too are there any problems with keeping it?

Thanks for any info, I also have to thank Rip for answering some questions he's a pretty  guy.

The inlet and outlet lines on the FASS are 3/8" and we routed my FASS lines to run through the existing OEM Fuel Filter! This allows us to use the stock fuel heater and gives us another level of filtration.

The inlet and outlet lines on the FASS are actually 1/2" NPT. The fuel hose supplied with the kit is 3/8" hose, but the fittings are definitely 1/2" NPT. (Just installed mine on Monday)

Alright thanks for the info mine should be here tomorrow I can't wait lol. Right now the truck is just sitting don't want to drive it till I get some pressure.

I stand corrected... . just looked at my installation instructions and saw the 3/8" hose and assumed they were 3/8" fittings.

Thanks for the reply's guys. It showed up today so I have to get some fitting and do the install tomorrow, can't wait to have my truck back.

There's no way that it could. Where would the air come from? I suppose it could if you had a leaky filter housing or something. but assuming that everything else is proper, it won't happen.

IF air would get back into the fuel, it had to come from somewhere, meaning that either 1) the OEM setup is leaking, or 2) the FASS is not doing its job of removing entrained air.

It may sound like fact, but it's JMHO.

Well I got it put on today. Little different since I have a flatbed and didn't want it hanging out in the wide open. Couple new brackets off the flatbed and I was good to go. I will say the truck does sound alot better. Only problem is my gauge is pegged but oh well at least I know it has enough. I'll reply tomorrow night after I get back from the Springs. And I also have to move a trailer for a friend too.

If I'm not mistaken -the original filter and fuel connections to it are SMALLER than the FASS system. I bypassed all that stuff and took mine off... . I see no reason to have it at all.....

I'm going to plumb mine back thru the original filter housing to pick up the fuel heater. I bought another fitting like the one that replaced the banjo bolt on the pump for the bottom of the filter housing and my buddy is machining me an adapter for the input. I wouldn't be too happy if the fuel gelled after sitting outside on a cold night!
