You'll love it. I like my 2620 better than the Alpine-supplied OEM nav system in my Acura 3. 2TL-S, and that's saying a lot. The mapping database on the Garmin is significantly more robust, especially outside the major urban areas. :D

Yep, you'll love it...

Yep, you'll love it and wondered how you got along all these years without it! :D

I too gave the RB1 serious consideration; however, like you, I decided it would be much more practical to purchase a GPS that I could use in our other vehicle. Early last January, after doing some research, I bought both the Garmin Street Pilot 2620 and the Magellan Roadmate 700 with the idea of trying both and returning the one I didn't like as well. I used both units for two days and the Magellan Roadmate 700 was returned.

We liked the Street Pilot 2620 much better. It had many more features, the mounting system was better, and in addition to the touch pad screen like the Roadmate 700, used a small hand held remote control. Using the remote control, a passenger could change the GPS without reaching up on the dash or disturbing the driver while going down the road. The back seat passengers can easily see the screen during the daylight with the unit on the dash.

Since we've had the Street Pilot 2620, we've been on several RV trips and used the GPS extensively. We like to drive the less traveled roads and the GPS has taken us down some out of state county roads that we wouldn't have known about or taken without the Street Pilot. The mapping and routing program has been excellent. We haven't been directed down a wrong road yet! It's amazing how much stuff is in that little box!

Also when driving in larger towns and cities, we use the GPS not only for routing, we use it in the "Ready to Navigate" mode to see the street signs and intersections before we get to them. It's much easier to look at the GPS for the name of a street before we get to it than trying to read the street sign at the intersection. You can set up the program to show several functions on the screen at the same time.

We use the GPS every time we drive anywhere... except to the Post Office which is only about three miles down the same road we live on. :)
