I ordered my Jacobs E-Brake today and I am looking foward to the install. Any pitfalls or shortcuts to look out for? I also wanted thank fellow members for recommending a call to Alex at 1-800-559-6698(great service, great price).

The hardest part of the install is removing the cigar lighter socket to obtain a key-on source of 12 volts. It's only needed to light the indicator lamp in the toggle switch. It has nothing to do with the brake.

You may wish to avoid cutting a hole in the dash for the toggle switch. I mounted mine on a home-made bracket and eventually replaced the toggle switch with a 2-speed axle switch on the shift lever.

Remove a couple of cap screws (bolts???) on the fuel/water separator to give yourself better access to pin 20 on the ECM.

Chad,I have the cummins E-brake and the installe was easy,just follow the instructions,the are in good detail,I was thinking of the switch on the shifter but after using it a while I have decided not to. the only other thing I can think of is for the power for the light on the switch is I was under the impression that the wiring that feeds the acc power point,there are a few wires in the loom and the one with the orange stripe aint it , the hot lead is the one with a red stripe. Chad;
1) I found the ECM very difficult to get to so I removed the bolts that mount the fuel filter, but left the fuel lines connected. I could then move the filter toward the fender area enough to get to the ECM easily.
2) Pay attention to getting the wire into the #20 hole well into the hole---I had to do that three times before it went in far enough to activate the brake.
3) I too, did not want to cut holes in the dash, so I mounted a bracked ( made from a 90 degree bend of plastic of about the right color that I got off the plastic kick panel of a ford F-700, and mounted the switch to that and mounted it to the under lip of the dash.
