Guys I need advice. Four Gauges are on the way from Geno’s. All black faced Di-Pricol. My plan is to locate on the A-pillar starting top to bottom EGT, Boost and Fuel Pressure.

In the small shelf opening just right of the radio I may mount the transmission temp…. or maybe below the ashtray area in a rubber donut mount, I haven’t decided yet but ordered both mounts.

I ordered the tapped banjo bolt and washers for the fuel pressure and was planning on locating it BETWEEN the fuel filter housing output side somewhere and the ejection pump, anyplace better than another opinions please.

From Geno’s in regard to the DiPricol Fuel pressure gauge it states.

“Our kit includes the gauge, light kit, under hood isolator (1/8 NPT female connection) and tubing to attach to the back of the gauge.

Customer will need to supply parts required to connect the isolator (1/8 NPT female connection”

So I need to connect the banjo bolt to the isolator with that nice braded hose (where do I get that anyway) 1/8 NPT (male) to banjo bolt and 1/8 NPT (male) to the isolator (what does NPT stand for anyway).

Advice please.

Also Routing of wires where to tap dimmer control. And any other advice regarding what “I haven’t thought of” would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks JJ

Different threads (pipe, screws, etc... ) have standards to ensure a proper fit between manufacturers. Pipes use NPT (stands for National Pipe Thread I think). Can't help you on the gauges, mine are due in tomorrow so I haven't hooked anything up yet. Sorry.

Hose

U can get the hose from Summit racing, Jegs and the like. I get mine from a local hydralics (sp) shop. MOst shops "crimp while u wait" and u are sure to get exactly what u want when u want it. Plus its alot cheaper in price. FYI NPT is National Pipe Thread, its a tapered thread so make sure u get everything in NPT or it will leak. Also I had to re-tap my Geno's banjo bolts to 1/8 NPT. They came tapped in correctly, which atleast a few months ago was pretty common.

As for tapping into the fuel system to pick up your readings, just replace the Banjo bolt with the Schrader valve on the injection pump with the tapped banjo. Do not over torque. I'll say it again because it is very important, DO NOT OVER TORQUE the bolt. Torque to 18 lbs/ft and make sure that u dont tighten it when u tighten the hose into the banjo. Use a wrench to hold the torque on the banjo when u tighten the hose. Make sure u uses two new banjo washers too or it will leak. I lube mine with diesel before i install the washers so they dont bind and crack when torqued.

hope this helps

Should you wish to leave the Schrader valve in place to allow your dealer to test the lift pump at a later date, you can replace the banjo on the bottom of the filter housing and get post-filter fuel pressure.

in a pinch, you can reuse those copper washers that are on banjo fittings. trick is to heat them up with a propane torch [or hotplate] just to the point when they start to glow. too hot and the surface blisters. not hot enough and it won't seal right. if you go to the glowing point and let it cool by itself [no water doucing] the copper will soften up [can't remember the proper word - some like aniel ???] allowing it to seal like a new one. but with the price of new ones being so low, don't skimp on them, but in a pinch, that will work
