Thanks to Joe Donnelly for recommending the Dodge dealer, Saitta Trudeau Dodge, in Pahrump NV.

I ordered a Deep Water Blue 2500 4x4 Laramie LB from them on Friday the 2nd of April.

Powertrain:

6 Speed Automatic, 3. 73x1 Ratio Rear-end, and of course the 6. 7 Cummins Diesel.

I also added options:

Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats, Media Center (nav radio), Limited Slip Rear-end, Remote Start, Parkview Rear Backup Camera, Mopar Chrome Tubular Side Steps, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, and Protection Group.

With the Laramie package, you get so much as standard, the options list is quite small.

There was a minor concern by the sales manager that Dodge might stop production of new Rams anytime as they have a large inventory of un-shipped Rams in storage. So, if you are considering ordering, keep that in mind short turn.

No delivery date as of yet. I gave them the best price I could squeeze out of Dave Smith in Idaho. Trudeau matched it with no added dealer items. I went with them as they are much closer in miles to my home. The local dealer would not budge off the invoice price plus added dealer cost items that were not necessary, to my knowledge.

I ordered my new Ram 2500 Laramie on march 10th and still don't have a delivery date. I was told i would be able to track the build process but haven't been able to yet. The dealer tells me that it is D status which means it is waiting to go on the assembly line. It's been in that status since the week I placed my order. I have a VIN number but can't drive a VIN number but on the other hand I don't have to pay for a VIN number either. I ordered the 3. 73 because I have a 3. 55 now with the 12 valve 180 hp. Does a ok job but hope I get more power from the new truck. Goosehunter good luck on your order.

Heard from my dealer today and we have a build date. My truck hit the assembly line today. It should be finished the building process 4/27/10. Should be delivered first week of May.

What were you told in terms of the incentives. My dealer is telling me he can "hold" the $1000 rebate but can't guarantee a hold on the 1. 9% financing. That's a deal breaker for me. I want to order mine but I'm not going to order it and then find out the interest rate is 3 or 4% when the truck arrives.

What's MSRP and Invoice pricing?

About invoice pricing... how do you really know what the invoice price is? Is that a law that they have to show you or is just something they can print out and say, "see, that's the invoice price!"

Whenever I order a new vehicle, I get invoice pricing from Kelley Blue Book. When I ordered my 05 Dodge, in addition to the KBB invoice pricing, the dealer gave me a copy of their invoice, which compared very close to KBB. The dealer does not have to disclose the invoice pricing to you, only the MSRP.

Kelly will give you the invoice but the dealer also gets rebates that you will not see. I would shoot a couple thousand below invoice. I know after we agreed on a price they tried adding $599 in fees. I said good bye I will not pay any dealer fees. They ended up agreeing to lowering the price of the truck by 599 so they could still show the fee.

I'm about to order my new Ram and I have been haggling with a bunch of dealers to get the best price. In this process I was able to get the invoice price and cross compared to other dealers (some of which were not in my state) so I think the invoice prices are correct.

Then comes the zinger... . I get a call back from a local dealer that says he just got my pricing request (the one I requested from Costco Auto Services Buying Program) and he proceeds to tell me that he's giving me the Costco pre-negotiated price which is invoice. The Costco invoice price he quoted me was what I had as invoice from all the other dealers I was working with and was about $300 better than the best quote I got.

Bottom line, try Costco and see if you get the same thing. There are also additional discounts if you are a business owner or a Farm Bureau member ($500 off).

Is the invoice price what the dealer supposedly pays the manufacturer?

I've recently read on another forum that a fella worked with 2 different dealers for a bit of time on '09 model. The sticker on it was $47k and he paid $33.

Seeing that you'd think that the incentives and rebates the dealer gets are much more than you'd assume. Also, I remember looking at an '06 right as the '07s were coming out and the sticker was about $42k and they offered, without even haggling, $33k.

Another example was just yesterday, my wife bought a '10 Furd Escape (nice vehicle) and before we even sat down to talk price, the salescritter came out said, we just like to sell cars, here's what we'll offer.

He handed us a sheet that head their holdback, invoice, discounts for Shell employees, Furd retirees, and Furd dealer employees. Then said, how much do you think is fair over invoice?

We bought it for invoice plus TTL.

I went into the local Dodge dealer yesterday to look for panel screws for my truck and I was asking about the '10s, one of the salescritters said, "They're proud of those things, they won't budge on the price. " But this area is notorious for being stiff on price.

They will sale below invoice right now and no dealer fees and a full take of fuel. Offer them well below invoice and walk out they will come around if not buy from a dealer that will because they are still making a bundle at invoice.

normally invoice price is about 10. 5% below sticker price, this also generally works for all makes including toyotas. dave smith sold my '06 to me at $1500 BELOW invoice. the dealer has a hold back of at least $1000 and also gets more money for selling more cars. so invoice is just a fake number essentially and has no bearing on what the dealer makes on the sale. my '06 4x4 SLT auto had a sticker of 42k bought it in june of '06 for 32k and some change. 49k for a dodge pickup makes my eyes water.

2006...

I looked at a 4x4 SLT that year... they were making room for the 07s coming out and without even asking they offered me $34k out the door.

Seeing as how they are damn near the same price used now, I keep kicking myself for not jumping on it.

But I do enjoy my 97.

Cummins Cowboy,

$49k made my eyes water also! For $32k in '06, was this for an ordered vehicle or was it off the lot? It is my understanding that June is past the end of the year for the factory production of that year. Remember, you bought in 2006, this is 2010. Everything has gone up in four years.

I worked four dealers in UT, two dealers in NV, and Dave Smith in ID. Saitta Trudeau in Pahrump NV gave me the best all around deal of the bunch.

Saitta Trudeau Dodge's offer was $49,015 including an add-on of a set of Mopar chrome tubular side steps at an additional cost of $700 that wasn't on the original build sheet from Dave Smith. I can do a one day turnaround from home to Pahrump NV, and save much of travel cost of going to Dave Smith Dodge in Idaho.

Dave Smith's offer to me for this same PU was $48,218, before doc fees and a dealer prep fee. My out the door cost would be around $ 48,500 (not including the cost of the steps) then I have to add 2000 miles travel, one night lodging, meals etc for two people. It just didn't add up on my calculator as the best deal.

Granted, near the end of the model year, deals can be made for much below invoice, but this is a special ordered vehicle, and the build out date was fast approaching, so I couldn't wait until the end of the model year because the factory would not be making 2010 models at that late date.

I suspect that dealers want to move vehicles off their lot near the end of the model year is why deals can be made late in the year.

Maybe I got screwed, I donno, but I did the best I could do with what I had to do it with.

around that time in '06 the incentives were pretty much level from feb till sep of '06 so it wasn't a model close out situation. I actually wish I had bought local, if you really twist a dealers arm they all will match dave smith's deal. if I buy vehicles now days I do all my negotiating via email. this way it makes it far less personal. it keep them honest too.

the other land mine to navigate is the finance manager, make sure you get a good rate, don't buy gap insurance. I am not big on warranties although I would have came out much better had I got it on my '06.

I think what is happening is dodge is just building trucks kinda as they go. I think they are keeping inventories in check and thus are not offering any incentives to speak of.

the key is how much you are getting off sticker price,

Good price

GooseHunter,
I think you got a good price. My invoice was 50,950 (3500 Crew cab Laramie 4x4 LB with Auto) With options: Remote start, back-up camera, bedliner, Trailer brake controller, side steps, cold weather group, rear seat video, Nav unit, off-road tires, adj pedals. I was able to get $300 under invoice. Also, don't forget, if you join the Farm Bureau ($70), after 30 days you are eligible for $500 discount from Dodge.

I shopped for invoice prices from Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds and Consumer Reports and Costso. All of their invoice prices were the same and ultimately matched what I got from the dealer.

Also, I was told April 23 was the last day to order a 2010 Ram.
