I am about to order a new 2012 CTD. It will be a CC 4x4 LB auto w/3. 73's. What I was wondering is the dif between a 2500&3500 as far as suspension, brakes, the overall ride ect. Info will be much appreciated.

Will you be towing with the truck? TT or 5th wheel or ???? How heavy is the trailer, if you'll be towing? A little more information regarding your projected usage would help.

Rusty

I'll be towing a 10000lbs travel trailer about 20% of the time. Also it will be a singe rear wheel. Just interested in the dif between the two models. In 2004 it was just the rear spring pack.

On third gen's the 3500 has the extra overload(auxillary) spring on the rears. On the forth gen's the overload has been dropped for the SRW 3500, only the DRW 3500 get the overload. The 3500 SRW still carry the 10100 GVW.

Kevin

The 4th gen trucks all have the 11. 5 AAM rear axle. The 2500 GVW is 9600 lbs, 3500 is 10100 lbs.

The 4th gen trucks have a lot more creature comforts. I am not an automatic fan, but this new auto is great. The exhaust brake works as good if not better than the one in my last truck with a stick, i'm impressed. Sam

TPMS is only a government requirement up to a certain GVWR - the 3500 dually is over whatever that threshold is.

Rusty

I am not certain but I think the gov. regulation is under 10,000 lbs requires tpms so all 3500 trucks single or dual are exempt. Mine is srw and does not have tpms.

Trust me go for the 3500 srw I had a 08 2500 and it's night n day difference between the 08 and my 11 3500 srw the 3500 handles better drives better and towing hand's down this is the best thing we did when we bought the 11 was go for the 3500 just shy of 31,000 in less then a yr tires wear better also .
