I was wondering if anyone could answer these questions. The dealer is clueless and I don't want to order the truck incorrectly.

Questions on 2014 3500 dually crew 4x4 with aisian transmission

*Are there any frame changes from 2013 to 2014, B&W has not yet released their 2014 hitch, will a 2013 bolt right up to a 2014?

*What is the max tow package?

*Is the larimie package the same for 2013 and 2014..... i. e. , include the same options?

* Is the engine brake 2 mode or 3 mode?

* Do you have to get the tow prep to get the gooseneck plug in the bed, if not is the harness already there?

* Rear sliding window is listed as standard in the larime package, can you get a defroster with it or does it then eliminate the slider?

Thanks in advance for all the help!Oo.

When I was contemplating ordering a 14 vs. buying my 13, this is what my salesman (who readily admits what he does not know but still take with a grain of salt) told me and the rest is based on what I have gone through with my truck.

1. No frame changes.

2. The 2010-2011 Max Tow USED to be the HO version of the 6. 7, dually, and 4. 10 gears that would get you a few extra goodies like a finned rear diff cover but I am not sure what it specifically includes now.

3. Packages were supposed to remain the same, color changes inside and out were going to be the major changes for 2014.

4. Don't know about the different engine brake modes.

5. To get the in bed plug from the factory, you need to get the prep package. Not sure how different it is, but it took me about 20 minutes to install one in my 06. Kits are readily available at camper supply stores.

6. I have a sliding rear window and the rear defrost. I remember in 06 you couldn't have both.

The factory hasn't released a lot of info yet on the 2014 3500s but they are expected to be the same mechanically as the 2013 which was a late introduction. Mineral gray and copperhead colors were dropped for 2014. There is some conflicting info, but max tow should include the 4. 10, aluminum diff cover, 11. 8" diameter ring gear, dual trans coolers. Air bag rear suspension is expected to be a late availability option.

BTW, if a 2013 fits your needs, you can get $2500 or $3000 (in the west) rebates, and a variety can be found via searching on ramtrucks.

Do you have to have the tow package to have the frame cross piece in the rear for hitch installation? Or do all the 13/14 3500s have that under the bed. Having the gooseneck/5th wheel set up is nice but if the truck is right in everything else I can install the receptacle and prep the bed for a hitch myself. I just really like the factory frame hitch support.

Also, and I know they aren't on the lots yet, is the only difference between 3500 drw '13 & '14 the optional supplemental air suspension (with softer leafs)? I could probably live without that and settle for a discounted 13' if that is all there is.

Thanks

All 2013 3500s, single rear wheel and dually, have the upgraded frame with more crossmembers, 50,000 psi steel, and the crossmember for the gooseneck and the pockets for the fifth wheel hitch. I understand that the airbags will have late availability, not available yet. If you want mineral gray or copperhead, both those colors are discontinued for 2014 so you have to seek out a 2013 equipped the way you want it. With the ramtrucks site, you can now search the entire USA for inventory.

Of course they would discontinue Copperead Pearl. Probably the one I would order when/if I buy another one. Same thing happend with my 3rd gens. Wanted Timberline Green and it was discontinued.

Timberline green was a limited production ($450) 2013 color; I don't know if it is offered in 2014. If you want a 2013 in copper, there are still some at dealerships. There are also a couple green ones. Hurry and get one while the rebates are good!

Yep, no more copper or light/medium gray. Granite is a darker gray. Also the Cummins is up $200 and the truck is up $400 for a total increase of $600 along with the loss of $3000 rebates in the West ($2500 in the east).

ordered a 14, 3500,cc, longhorn drw 410, aisin, 4x4 hitch, a few weeks ago. i don't care about rebates for these reasons, 1st the truck is a year old, second updates already installed in 2014, and there is not a truck out there for me to meet my needs. why should i buy options i don't want, like a sunroof that may leak someday? so the $3-4000 options i dont want are free because of a rebate? some of these trucks are configurations that aren't selling. i ordered a truck exactly the way i wanted, the dealer saves money on an order purchase, and so do i. invoice on the truck i want the way i want it, and discount cost on extended warrantee, gets me under a lot of advertised 13 prices. a year matters a lot in resale. do research, sort through the nonsense, and order the truck the truck you need. not the truck they need to get rid of.
