I for one don't like extended warranties. Unless you buy an automatic trans vehicle,
you usually never get advantage of what you spent on it... but your friend got a good price,I wonder how much coverage he gets? It's just a money maker for both the car manufacturer and selling dealer. They both know people don't keep cars too many years anymore, and push these money makers onto them, many at $1000-1500,cause they know they get to kep alot if it.
The slimiest car deals I've seen are:someone leases a car for 4 years(which has a 3year warranty fom the factory, right?),so the finance guy sells them an extended warranty, beacause heaven forbid the car should require an overhaul in that time. THEN! The finance guy says they also offer a 5year extra paint protection warranty for another
400 bucks(unknown to the customer, all cars come with a 5year paint warranty from the factory)... where do I sign?
When people buy vehicles, they modify/upgrade items anyway... so what's the point in getting the warranty when the vehicle is no longer stock?
If you really want one,the the best(but not the cheapest) is the ones from the car manufacturer. They're not going anywhere, and cover 95% of the car. The aftermarket(brokers) may be cheaper, but I always see them refusing coverage, and seem to cover less components as the car ages.
