Exhaust fan for workshop

My garage has slowly deteriated to an unorganized pit. I am looking for storage ideas. I have all my tools organized and shelving built around the upper garage for storage but I need more... . any "NEAT" ideas out there especially home made or pics of how you have your shop organized would be appreciated.

I want it clean and more organized than the house. That's the wifes job. :-laf

I use the big steel racks that come from Costco. I have them on the wall, but I have one that is on wheels. It rolls up in front of the wall rack with the least used items on it. It sticks out another 18" or so but gives me a lot more storage.

One of my friends uses pint and quart mason jars to store misc small parts, hardware, etc. He screwed the lids to the underside of a shelf and then just screws the jars to the lids. Being clear, it's easy to see what's in them and the shelf under the jar is still usable.

I use store shelving like Walmart and the grocery store uses. You can find it when a store closes or moves to a new location and wants to sell the old ones. I paid $10 a 4' back to back section with 4 shelves on each side.

For general tools like hammers, a soldiering bottle and tip, flux and soldier for plumbing repairs, clamps and other assorted construction stuff, I use plastic cat litter buckets. They stack and can be marked with a felt pen to identify the contents.
Precision tools are kept in machinists tool boxs
Just installed an 8' long wall cabinet and will set up shelves as I accumulate materials. Still organizingOo. .
Welding rod used as filler metal for the TIG and Oxy-fuel processes can be stored in PVC tubes mounted horizontal, on the wall using electrical uni-strut and conduit clamps

I use a plastic tool box for everything... I label the toolbox with whatever is inside and I built shelves that are just the right size (height and depth) for the toolboxes. For the shelves, I used those 90deg metal shelving brackets and 3/4" plywood that I ripped to size and then routered a nice 1/4 circle edge on.

For example: (toolboxes)

I have a hammer drill with the all of the hole saws in one.

All of the boat maintenance items in another (oil sump pump, orings, outdrive pump, etc)

Worm drive circular saw with all of the blades in another.

Auto electrical stuff in another (solder gun, connectors, wires, crimp tool, strip tool, wire loom, etc... )

All of the plastic toolboxes that came with tools (drills, saws, etc)

On and on...

For the bigger items, I use the 16 gallon tubs and label them and have built shelves that fit these perfectly.

In our 3 car garage... I am able to park the truck, the Durango, the boat and all of its stuff (skis, tubes, props, cover, kneeboard), 6 bikes, two very large roll-around toolboxes, Xmas decorations, all of my family's shoes, all of my wife's teacher stuff and all of my "stuff"... Its very full and 98% organized...

I keep all of the yard stuff (lawnmower, edger, chainsaw, pressure washer, wheel barrel, saws and shears in the yard shed (6' x 8').

I'd suggest checking out local auctions or used office furniture stores for good quality steel filing cabinets. Amazing how much you can store in them, and they have high weight ratings.

Even better if you can get one for legal size papers.

Currently looking at the space over the hood of my truck as a possiblilty.

I have an area where I can suspend a 4x8 sheet of plywood about 24-30 inches on which I can store some plastic tote boxes.
