Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Original Fuel Tank Sending Unit

In my 02 dodge Ram, I have the in-tank lift pump. It was in there when I purchased the truck. I have NO issues yet, just getting ready to do a upgrade when the time comes. I will do a new VP, a FASS DDRP from genos and I would like to get a regular sending unit because of the malfunctioned intank pump. Are these available? I figured this would cost lots, and I even was going to do a draw straw kit but the issue with that is the Fuel Gauge. Any help or feed back would be a huge help!!

I bought a used fuel tank module off of e-bay. This is the second one I bought off of e-bay. The first one the float desolved and fell off the rod. This one now is not accurate. So its a chance you take with them... . Jeff

Try below for a complete new module with a drawstraw already installed or not comes with the sending unit and float as well

(look at the last two items)

If you are going to pull the Module out, check the float for wear if not bad and looks OK, coat it with Epoxy and make sure that you line up the float so it will not rub on the tank on reinstall. I did this on mine and it has worked flawless for a couple years now.

Can you just get a sender from a national aftermarket parts store like Oreilley's or Napa? I don't think putting dead a pump back in will sit well.

The roughness inside of the tank is what eats away at the float because of its composition. I used a two part clear epoxy. Made sure I keep away from the pivot shaft and let it dry good. Your tank only has one expansion hump on it, I think, mine has two and so aligning the float right in the middle was crucial. Off to one side 1/2" would cause erosion on the float. I done this after replacing it and then doing a little experiment with an other type float. So far its still working. [Knock on wood a forest of trees. ]
