Old man winter pulled a fast one on us here in South Texas. We have not had snow on the ground since 1984. As I sit and type we already have 2 inches on the ground and its still comong down.

As a trucker (hot-shot) I could care less for snow - but the kids are going crazy. I have a 3 (16,15,11) kids and none them have ever seen snow.

It'll be the deer blind in the morning!!!

God bless our troops, our families, and our country.

Enjoy your holiday.

Better let them stay up late tonite as I'll bet it will all melt tomorrow.

I saw snow once in Alabama, lasted about 6 hours... . :-laf

I remember when it snowed here in Florida about 10 years ago. I thought that it was the coolest thing. Of course it melted as soon as it hit the ground but it was still something to see.

South Texas White Christmas

Yeah we don't get it that often, in which about 1 day of it is enough for me anyway. I'd hate to have to deal with the salt roads the guys up north have to deal with on their vehicles each winter. Actually this 04 year we have really got our share of precipition an then some.

Feb 14,2004 here in North Texas we got around four inches, this last snow earlier this week where I live about 2 1/2 inches an it's still on the ground. Been staying pretty cold at nights lower teens an not much above freezing during the day.

Warming trend coming in for next few days after Christmas though, will be back up into mid 60's close to 70. Heat wave! may have to crank up the ac then, :-laf

Enjoy it while you can. Oo.

I remember when i snowed back in '84. I was 8 or 9 at the time. I remember getting out of school for a week or two because of it. That was the only time I ever made a snowman... took almost all the snow in my yard to make it.

I saw the reports on the Weather Channel today. Pretty darned amazing. They were rolling up big snowballs and making snowmen on the beach at Corpus Christi since they got several inches. Even Brownsville got some. It would be nice to get some white stuff in the Northwest, far as I know only 1 or 2 of several ski resorts are open.

There is only one problem with snow in Texas that I have ever had problems with and salt was not one of them. I know it only happens once in a blue moon so you give them the benefit of the doubt but when and if they do decide to add some anti-skid materials to the highway its only on bridges and overpasses. Yes they plow with whatever equipment they have but I have never seen them spread any anti-skid on the roadways afterwards. I have made many a trek thru Texas all across it and its the same all over there.

The pictures they showed tonite from off the shore to the beach with the snow on it was amazing. I hope all the people who never got a chance to ever see a "White Christmas" enjoyed it. The pictures of some of the children playing in it was pretty nifty and they looked like they were enjoying themselves. It may be a once in a lifetime event for them who knows... ..... Andy

I'm happy to hear you guys got a White Christmas! A couple of inches for you guys shuts everything down. Up here... . we slow down about 5mph! :D When I was in HS, it took 6'' to even get us a 2 hour delay from school.

I can only immagine the "plows" you guys have down there. That has to be brutal! 17mph out of a front end loader... ... for all of I35 would be a LONG day!

Yea, they had a maintainer on S. Padre Island Drive to use as a snow plow.

We were throwing snow balls yesterday and tonite were cooking beer can chicken and pork ribs on the pit. Gotta Love it!

Lemme tell ya. I am very glad it snowed up here in Massachusetts.

We hopped on a plane from Houston to Boston, only to hear that it would not snow up here, but it would come down in Houston.

She's never seen falling snow in her life. I figured Mass in December would be a good time to catch some.

Thank goodness for those 3 inches we got Sunday evening. She's a happy camper now.
