After having an engine run out of fuel, would this cause the check engine light to come on, and possibly set a P1693 code? I cannot say for sure that the code was not there previously, as we had the lift pump and VP44 replaced this spring.
I changed the fuel filter this morning, and after many attempts, got her truck running. I later unhooked the batteries for 20 minutes (got sidetracked) and then rehooked them and the CEI was out, but P1693 was still stored. Any correlation between the two? Taking the truck to the garage tomorrow to have the code(s) checked and cleared.
Just as a note, my wife got 750 miles out of the tank (5 gallons at the mall to try it, and then 28 more gallons on the way home on the trailer = 33 gallons in the tank). The tank is only rated at 34 gallons. The low fuel light never came on, and the fuel gauge said she still had 1/8 tankfull.
