I always liked the over head comp and temp displays that newer trucks have, so i thought i would share what i came up with. All the parts came from a 92 Chrysler Lebaron, the mounting consol still needs a little work to have a nice clean finish fit but it all works the way it should.

I winced when I saw that 2nd picture. I still have dents in my head from high mounting CB's in these trucks. :(

Some memories really don't disappear. :-laf

My '98 has one that came in the truck that I can't get to work.

What kind of wiring did you have to do?

Maybe my display's bad. Anybody know if one from a '98 12V will interchange with the '98 24V?

The one that i used is a six wire system, a switched power, a hot wire from the dash lights for the display lights, two ground wires, and two wires for the temp. sensor that mounts out side the cab.

Well, other than the mounting, it's a good idea..... That would have to have some work for me..... Still, it was cheap enough, I bet! Hmmm, I wonder how hard that would be to retrofit into a wooden console? I used to build a few of those back in high school. We'd use some of the smaller CBs like the Cobra 25, 19, or Uniden Compacts. We were cool though, we had "mood" lights running the inside length of the two inner ridges along the top of the cab. :-laf

Just don't do like my cousin and run a 2" screw up through the stupid thing and up out of the cab..... Looked like a mini-antenna when he drove up!!!

Yeeaaaaahhhhhhh, about that... ... I've been lucky enough the hair has come back over most of them... . Then I tried mounting one on the floor in front of the seat facing up... . That worked great until my girlfriend wanted to ride in the middle, and the first time I got airborne, she broke one of the knobs off my radio, and had several red circles imprinted on her leg and cheek..... She told me it had to go... . I still have the radio. It's mounted on the roof, again... .

both mounts are more of working prototypes then finished items, but yes the only thing i had to buy was the cb.

Years ago I bought a rear view mirror that gives me temp and also shows directional compass. Still works great and also looks good.

I run the same in the 1990.

Yeah. Valid question as I will have to do some roof work on the crew at some point. What is max screw length for the roof? ;)

Are those rivets? Why didn't I think of that?

HEY!! I wasn't poking fun at it, either!! I just reread the thread, and I hope I didn't sound like a jerk..... I like the idea, I was just expressing my opinion... . hang around long enough, and you'll learn to ignore me... .

BSchwarzli is still working on it..... But at least he's progressing. He's getting more done in that area than on his SuperCrew, unfortunately..... :D

Its ok it takes a lot to get me fired up, but no they are not rivets, I used short stainless steel screws, to solve the screw out the top of the roof issue i make a hole in the inside then run the screws in by hand so there is no possible way to run it out the top.
