i have a 1995 2500 4x4 with an wuto transmission SLT, it has the over head computer with a compass and thermometer, my question is that when i hit the button that saya comp/temp it just turns the display off, so all i ever see is the temp/compass..... what should i check to find out what is causing this. i just bought this truck used, and am not too sure what all has been done. i have a service contract on it so any repairs would be covered, just wondering if there are any suggestions.

thanks for any help

I think thats all the options you have with that year. The only thing you can do is claibrate the compass, besides that, it's on, or off.

over haed display

it is my understanding that the 24valves have all the other neat info stuff on the overhead because of the computer controls on the engine that the 12valve doesnt have. i was wondering about that myself back when i got my truck. did a little reserch and thats what i came up with.

Building on gwagner's research, what the trip computer needs to to have give any other information is fuel quantity. On the 24V's with electronic fuel control, the engine computers tell the trip computer how much fuel the engine is getting, then the trip computer can calculate MPG, DTE, etc.

With the earlier engines, fuel is mechanically controlled, so there is no computer that knows how much fuel is being used. Without that information, the trip computer can't tell you anything else.

Another feature you may have, though, is compass degrees. Try holding the units button in for at least ten seconds. You might see it switch from temperature degree to compass degrees, which is fun to watch sometimes.

I am coming up on owning this truck for four years now and never new about that feature! Fantastic, as I always thought that NW was just a little vague. :) Commute should be a bit more fun now. ;)

What about a clock

I hate not having a clock in my truck. does the over head computer have one hidden in it. I just bought a 2001 4x4 qc and I am learning alot fast here.
