Hot !

Welcome..... We need to know more about the circumstances, specs of your truck, outside temp, etc. in order to be of any real help. These guys know so jump back with some specifics. R C

Let me say that we pull a 22K trailer with our 04 3500 dually have seen the following... Across the desert from LA to Phoenix... . at 108* or so...

1 - empty the temp gauge runs in between the 2 and the first 0

2 - when loaded on a straight level road... it moves to the middle of the 00

3 - when loaded going up a grade... . it either splits the second 0 or hovers just to the right of the second 0

4- if we are more than 100 ft from a truck pulling a grade with the load. . all bets are off and the restricted air flow causes the heat to go up... . or the right side draft will block the radiator from a full stream of air...

5- sometimes pulling a hill with a cross wind we have to shut down the AC...

6 - across the desert at 108* into the sun... . the AC won't keep up... . but it doesn't overheat... .

7- I've been told that when the fan clutch starts to fail... the readings go up... the truck we have mentioned above now has about 210K miles... .

Hope this helps. .

any ideas on how to help with the over heating when pulling trailer

"the" over heating problem?

You mean "Your" over heating problem!!

What specifially is over heating? Coolant, transmission, rear end, tires, etc... , etc... .

What type of truck, what year and what specifically is the over heating situation?

.

If your over heating then somethings wrong, these truck just don't normally do this.

Have you serviced the cooling sytem or checked the clutch fan operation? Also, big tires (like 35's or the like) can cause overheating when pulling very heavy.

BTW, It helps us to answere questions if you complete a truck profile.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!
