I recently installe the edge comp box on my 2001, and was hoping that some of the TDR members could help me out with a question on boost.

I did not pierce the pump wire yet and am unable to install the boost elbow on my stock turbo. Apparently the 2001 diesel w/automatic transmission has a turbo with a solid line on the wastegate housing that cannot be removed.

I have included a pic that the Edge Customer Service guys have sent which invloves installing a trunbuckle on the wastegate linkage.

Question is: How much boost can i expect to get with the wastegate disabled? Will I have any problems with blowing head gaskets, or intercooler hoses off?

Any input would be appreciated/

Thanks

Andrew

but the turbo will be out of its efficency range and 38 psi with comp in ez mode with stock injectors is very unlikely

you should see 29-=33 psi with stock injectors, and have no problems with the head gasket or blowing the tubes off. The turbo compressor housing will likely turn yellow if it isnt already, from the increase in hot air being made.

The turbo turned yellow a long time ago. Happened after the 4" exhaust and the KN intake.

I think i will go ahead and put the turnbuckle on, but i will watch my gauge to make sure i dont get out of specs.

Installed

I put the Turnbuckle on the wastegate linkage today. Truck really get's up and go's!! I was getting 20 psi before, now I get 28-30psi. No problems so far.

i also installed two optima red tops today. I put in size 34/78 and they fit in the factory battery trays great.

Anyone had any problems with boost? jut want to know what to look for.

Thanks all

Andrew.

With my comp and injectors I have seen as high as 42psi, 32-38 is pretty common, but I have the elbow in that came with the comp. So far I have not had any problems, but with boost as high as it has been it is time for anoter upgrade, and a fire rings.

When my turnbuckle was tightened as much as I could get it, I would see 38psi. Loosening a couple of turns brought it back down to 32psi.
