McLeod Dual Disc Clutch PROBLEM?

:( :( Has anyone had any problem with thier wastgate freezing up, or the actuator freezing up. I noticed my boost guage going up to the 28 p. s. i. range, and was a little concerned, as it used to never go over 20 p. s. i. I had a friend from JTE ( jeep / Truck Engineering ) come look at the truck, and he could not get the wastegate to move, so it looks like it could be a trip to the dealer :( :( . Any info or similar prpoblems would be appreciated...

Ummm I noticed your

injectors , Do you run a box? hey go with it ... ... . kidding. I make SOLID 38 psi with the banks and dd inj's + va. but if no boost mods were made then yeah I would say your actuator is frozen. ALTHOUGH they cannot be moved by hand easily by all means nessecary from the factory remember it has to hold it closed so it will take cosiderable force to open

The friend that worked on it , works in the diesel lab, and he hooked a special tool that pressurizes the entire intake system thru the turbo inlet. We put 25 psi to the system, and no movement of the wastegate. there is no boost module, Yet, and he says the ecm cuts back fuel at 21 psi, so I am losing power when boost goes too high.

He also told me to get the K&N filter out of the truck. it has only been a couple of hundred miles, and already there is oil residue in the turbo inlet (slight) (factory oiled filter). he warns that the K&N actually allows too much dust microns thru, and they have had several cases of the rings goiong bad, all on truck with K& N filters.

Welp it's frozen

The ECM does in fact De~fuel upon "OVER boost  ) that's why I was curious if you were running a Boost mod or a box. With 25 psi that diaphram should have moved so it's safe to say tza zing vent KAPUT. ;)

P. S Good luck ( I Mean it! ) hope the dealer's good to ya I just cringe at all of the horror Iv'e read. :(

Sounds like a good excuse to get one Piers' new turbos and start putting some of that "excess boost" to use. The 46 psi my HX-40 can put out lets me keep the pedal down a lot longer by keeping the EGT's down. Good luck!

If you do not have a boost module on your truck then any thing over 21# will set a code and you will have a hard time convincing a dealer that you do not have any bombs on board. Stock injectors will only make about 22# boost, max. The ecm will store max boost, Cummins can acess a lot of stored data Dodge can not. but who needs a waste gate anny way. 505 ecm, DD2's and an EZ only produces 38# with waste gate disabled.

Thanks for the info. I spoke to the dealer and told them what the engineering tech discovered, but they want thier own mechanic, who went to a couple of diesel classes, to check it out first, I'm sure the dealers mechanic will know more than the guy that works in development of the trucks at the engineering center... .  . Oh well, the dealer service Mgr, will overlook any mods to the truck, ( Mods, did I say mods, I meant to say " It's stock... . As far as you know") so I guess I have to follow his rules... .

Sky are you kiddin' about the 20lbs of boost? I would think that your combo would put you in the mid 30's in boost.

I have only the Hot PE and can get it to 37lbs. in Level 3.

I know this may sound stupid but have you checked your clamps lately?

Maybe somethings wrong with your EZ.

No I wish I was kidding. I tightend all my clamps and exhaust bolts which by the way the backs ones were very loose and one was about to fall out. Remeber I have the Hy35 turbo hardline, and I did have the turnbuckle on before I had the boost guage hooked up but I noticed a few days ago its gone so I guess I didnt have it on tight enough. But I thought for sure I would be at around 30 at least.
