Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) overdrive lockout/in

I have a 01 2500 quad 2 wheel drive auto w/overdrive. under normal accel. unloaded she will shift into od @ aprox 50 to 55 mph, has done this since I bought her 2 months ago w/ 108,000 miles on her (now has 127,000) I pull travel trailers for a living & I have also noticed she will shift out of over drive w/a trailer approx 4000 lbs + at the slightest headwind or even a overpass grade. The only mod is a 3" exsaust (sp) & no muffler.



Is this normal or is there a adjustment to be made?



The trans fluid is up & clean, I check @ every fill

My truck acts the same nothing wrong with it. The rearend ratio must be 3:54 same as mine. You really don't want to be in overdrive with a load unless you have a 4:10 rear axle ratio. This being MHO anyway.

Agree - if it's in and out it's telling you too high for load - push the button lock it out.
