I am writing this question for my brother in Arizona, who has a 1993 with an automatic transmission. And I must say this truck is like brand new with only 70K miles.

He is having trouble with the transmission, it keeps kicking out of overdrive gear for no reason.

He is in Tucson AZ. and if you can give him some advice on where he can go to fix it, or how to repair it himself, he and I would appreciate it. Thanks

A thousand to one it is not the transmission. The TPS (throttle position sensor) is most likely the problem. It can be one of several other sensors that feed to the computer or even the computer but the most likely is the TPS.

Do a search on that and you will get a weeks reading. This has been a problem from day one with the OD automatics. I understand that there are cheaper sources of TPS than Dodge. Been a while since I had to work on mine but be assured that you are not alone. A good many owners have just done away with the computer involvment and put a switch to control the OD.

Others may join in here but you can get all you need in a search of past posts.

Dropping in and out of OD is usually the speed sensor. Thats the easiest and cheapest to fix. Should be available from a dealer.

The next problem could be the TPS. Available from the dealer but way expensive. Cummins has the same part for about half the dealer wants.

First thing is clean all grounds and connections and use dielectric grease on them. A lot of OD\TPS problems can be resolved with a good connection cleaning and greasing.
