I have a 97, auto, with some Goerend parts. It shifts fine, but I use the overdrive switch a lot, and thought it would be nice if it were somewhere else. Like the end of the shift lever or steering wheel, so I don't have to move my hands so far.

Has anyone done this already?

ThanX

Go to dealer or favorite Dodge parts supplier and order the shift lever for a 98 or newer truck. The dash switch is just a momentary switch like the one on the shifter stalk, find the 2 wires that are the switch not the light on the OE harness and tap them. An FSM should tell you the colors.

Be very CAREFUL removing the pin that hold the shifter stalk to the column. You need to press it out with a small press or pliers and a small bolt. Do NOT beat on it or you will break the casting. Other than finding the 2 wires, pretty simple swap.

Axtell, I intsalled the TPS delete kit from DNR customs, ( about $40 ) and absolutely love it. You can adjust your overdrive shift
point wherever you want !!!!

I've already been down that road. Shift point isn't the issue. I tow daily in hills, and hence I use lock up in all of the gears ( I don't shift locked) I do use 3rd a lot, so moving my hand off the steering wheel to the dash is what I want to change. Of course actually completing the job would be nice, LOL!
