I just put a suncoaust trany in my truck it is there most extreme one it was about 7200. 00 bucks and now I don't have overdrive ? I was just wondering if you need to hook up the temp sending unit or it will not allow overdrive like a safty default? it is a 47rh any Ideas would be helpful?

I would start with that for sure. Being an RH, I'm honestly not sure if OD is activated by a solonoid or not. If not, I'd be calling Joe down at Suncoast.

hook up the temp sender or else put a diode in the connector, 750 mor 1000 ohm. It fools the computer and lets it go into overdrive.

Sorry I couldn't help more Smokinrod... . I don't know the RH's very well.

I need to talk/read more about the RH's. I know the inturnals are pretty much the same as the RE's but I know the controlling factors are a bit different.

Sorry if I sounded discouraging,

Josh

That temp sensor is vital for proper trans operation. The PCM has to "see" the ATF above 60*, I believe, before it will shift into OD and some slightly higher temp before lockup.

Go to Radio Shack and buy a 5-pack of 1k ohm 1/2 watt resistors. They should cost $0. 99. Stick one leg of the resistor in each side of the sensor plug. Pot the resistor with silicone to keep water and dirt out. The trans should shift perfectly regardless of the outside temp. I did this to my '95 this winter and it worked for me.

Thanks to Joe G. for this fix.
