Went to go change my overflow valve yesterday, but before it threaded all the way out of the pump, it came up against the manifold... how to you clear enough space to pull the old one out and replace it. :{ P. S. --i got the new one from Piers. . does anyone know if it's modified??:)

They are stock ... but some of the head castings leave a little extra metal where the boss is to remove the overflow valve ... . so . . just take a little off and the valve comes right out ...

Well I didn't think about the dremel thing, I did it the hard way and took the small bolt out of it being careful not to loose the spring and ball... ..... Workes much better than the old valve now.

I actually just pulled the tube end/valve assembly up towards me a little. Yeah, it resists a bit, but there's a little flex in the line. Then I tipped the end of the valve to me and it came right out.

I've swapped mine out 2 or 3 times this way testing some stuff and there's been no problem.

changed mine out two weeks ago and just lifted up on the tube assembly and it cleared ok... . went back in with ease. it was a piers valve also... . cya

My overflow valve in the truck right now does not have the little screw that is threaded into the bigger screw.....

I got my 24-valve intercooler and valve yesterday from Piers..... and I saw the difference last night and only did the intercooler..... the valve is next! :D

O-K guys, fill me in on this overflow valve. Is there one to improve performance? Also anybody know anything about Piers? Vacation? I called and sent an email a week ago needing a spring kit for my govener and haven't heard anything.

Thanks

Michael

No high performance overflow valves, but they can sure be low performance when bad. The valve allows excess fuel pressure to release fuel back to the tank but when it gets weak it will open at too low a pressure which will give you power loss especially towing at highway speeds

Just installed new one and....

My lift pump is ticking now. Is this normal? It was replaced by DC about a year ago. I have about 25% more power now but my previous problem of jerking under light pedal pressure is back. Do you think the lift pump could be bad again? It's not dripping fuel this time... .

Funny how we all just EXPECT a part from Piers to be modified!

Bhaner

My lift pump and overflow valve were both replaced under warranty 3 years ago, the truck had other issues, non of which was jerking under light pedal pressure.

NOW I have jerking under light pedal pressure!!

I will install the overflow and let you know if it solves the jerking.

Check your throttle return springs ... there are two of those little buggers down there ... and if one of them breaks ... you'll get some jerking under light throttle ... . alot if both of them break.

That is the same thing that happened to me! I had all my fuel lines (tank to lift pump, and return), lift pump, overflow valve, and the in tank pump replaced under warrenty about a year ago. Everything was good then about a month later i started having the jerking problem... Dealer said it was my BD trans. Had that checked at Valley fuel and it was fine. They said it was just lugging and to live with it. After about a month I didn't notice it.

I replaced the overflow valve yesterday because it was getin' a little gutless and now the jerking is back.

Michael,

I just talked to Piers and ordered one (3K GSK) the other day. They are out of them and expect more in 2 weeks.

Greg not sure if you got it done yet or not but I used the die grinder method you can take away enough to get out

Here is mine:

Scott,

I believe some earlier models have a overflow valve that can not be taken apart. My 94 had what appeared to be a one piece valve.
