I'm replacing the OFV on my 95 Dodge Ram. I saw what I thought was a bit of foreign material in the threads where the OFV screws into the injection pump. I found that it did not want to be easily removed. Maybe it's a tang in the threads to keep the OFV from screwing in too far. What do y'all think, is this normal?

It looks like a thread insert has been installed, if so, it will probably be okay or there would have been a problem with the old one.

Thanks, that makes sense. I installed the new valve and got a nice boost in fuel pressure. I can see how someone might strip those threads upon installing the new one -- it took a lot of messing around with it before I could get the new one lined up right.

For future knowledge, the head can be trimmed a bit with a file to make the OFV easier to R &R.
