It there a track record of any kind that indicates when a overflow vavle typically fails, and what symptoms can one expect once it starts to fail. $54. 00 for a new one from Cummins is fairly cheap insurance I suppose, but why fix it if it isn't broke. I'm at 116K miles and am just now starting to have fuel delivery issues. (replace transfer pump)

At your mileage parts are naturally going to start wearing out. Best bet on the fuel delivery system is to install an in-cab post filter fuel pressure gauge for monitoring and trouble shooting. Just one time replacing the overflow valve or changing the filter rather than replacing your lift pump will more than pay for one. A mechanical fuel pressure gauge setup without lighting can be pieced together for less than $25, a couple hours of your time and can be installed way low on the dash since you don't need to look at it often.

These last pretty long!

I changed mine at 200K, no problems, just thougbt it must be bad. Took old one apart and measured spring and it was still fine.
