What are overflow valves and what do they do? Would they benifit me in any way? I see PDR has them on sale this month. I can never pass up a deal!

It is the valve that controls the fuel return to the tank.

To determine if you need a new one you will need to check your fuel pressure to make sure you are within specs.

PDR had the best price around on these. You might grab one to keep on the shelf, because chances are someday you will need one.

Its a spring loaded check valve and its job is to keep fuel in the pump, (Bosch P 7100). The spring breaks and will cause hard starting and lousy performance till the pump fills up.

SD it seems like you are thinking of the overflow valve as a bombing item when it fact it is a necessary item, it is basically the pressure regulator/ backflow preventer for your fuel intake. It also happens to be about the only part on a 12 valve that wears out prematurely.

Buy one, I have had 2 12 valve trucks and both needed the valve, power will fall off especially when towing when it goes bad. Fuel pressure check will tell the story.

5 Minute job to change.

I noticed my truck loosing its get up and go. Also smoked a little more than normal. Found the spring in two pieces. Thought that was it. WRONG. The biggest problem was my shut down solenoid wasnt fully opening up for normal run position. Ted Jannety put me right on it. Thanks again Ted.

Its at the front of the pump on the side closest to the engine, its a banjo bolt with a small bolt on top and holds the return line to the pump
