Overhead computer Adjusts SLOWLY when towing!

Why does it take forever (If ever) for the overhead to adjust when towing. I filled up the truck for a 400 mile trip pulling the horse trailer. The previous tank was all hwy empty driving and I got 22. 1 MPG both on the overhead and Hand Calculated ... Once I hooked up to the trailer, pulled 400 miles, the OVERHEAD still showerd 20. 0 MPG. Hand calc was 15. 2 MPG ... DOes this happen to you guys???

Did you reset it when you filled the tank? It's a running average, if you don't reset it it will average all your driving, trailer or empty to give you a figure somewhere in the middle.

Nope, never reset it, I just assumed it would average out and drop like a fly with the weight! THanks!

The average used to be calculated using the last 30 gallons as the running base. Takes a while for the computer to adjust to increased fuel burns.
