Overhead computer and the dealer

Took the truck in. The overhead computer always come on in Ave MPG and always says 15. 7 or 15. 8 when I turn it on . Even if it said 18 when I turn it off. Dealer says this is normal, I don't remember it being this way before. HELP

With rig running down highway, push both buttons at once and hold them... display will start to flash... if funny looking numbers come up, depress and hold till a second set of numbers comes up; it appears you can set this computer to give you instantaneous readings, or delayed averages..... try it, you'll get the hang of it. don't ask me to explain the whats n whys, just know that it works this way on mine---

Dave B: The "01's" have a "real time" mpg read out. At least on the two rigs I test drove they did.
Partyat33, I don't think the read out on the estimated average should start out lower than when you shut the truck off from the previous outing. Unless you are letting it idle excessively when you restart.
