Friday out of the blue my 10 amp fuse that controls the overhad console and the 4x4 light in the dash blew. I replaced it and it blew right away. Is this a known problem with the 3rd gen? If so what do I look for. Thanks
#2. Remove the overhead retaining screw. Should be only 1 screw.
#3. Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of the overhead console and pull straight down evenly to disengage the two snap clips and the rear of the unit.
#4. Lower the console enough to gain access to the wire harness and dc it.
Hey SGBarracuda. After you drop the O/H console, unplug it and install a new fuse. If it blows again you know it`s not your console.
If the fuse fails again check the wire harness from the console down the left A pillar. Disconnect it at the junction box by the left kick panel/firewall area. Try the fuse again.
If it`s OK after you have unplugged the harness from the box at the fire wall, it`s most likely in the A pillar/headliner area. A wire has chafed through.
If the fuse remain good after you unplug the O/H console, look for damaged wires at the mounting screw locations before you condemn the console display unit. Hope this helps. Post back and keep us up to date.
