2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Overhead console questions

I just bought a 98 ext-cab and it had the overhead console removed. I found a console that has the compass and temp gage in it, but the plug doesn't match the 3-pin plug I have in the truck.



Is it possible for me to retro-fit the console I have to get the compass and temp gage to work? Should I just try to find one with the cubby hole and be done with it?

You Possibly just got a newer model one... .



If it is 3 wires on both yours and the part, I'd guess that 1 is power, 1 ground and 1 Data... try to figure this out and it should work...

Unfortunately, the one I got has about 9 wires on the plug going into it and my truck has a 3 pin plug hanging. That was my fault for buying it. I was just looking to see if the truck already has an ambient air temp sensor and compass built into it that I could tap into. I was hoping the compass was in the console and I just have to get 12V to it. Any advice will be appreciated.
