I know there has been discussion at length as to the place to mount auxillary switches #ad
. Seems its another "tastes great" argument over the best place. I just was coming back from a trip with a flatbed thinking that the useless overhead "spitter" (as I call it cause thats what happens to anything I put up there as soon as I accelerate) would be a great place for someone who has the know how to design a switch plate to snap in. Anybody ever done anything along these lines??

Cheers!

Kevin,

I made one that replaces the stock cup spiller. One advantage to that is that there are two screw holes already in place. I thought about the overhead cubby where my wife keeps her sunglasses, but didn't see any nice way to fasten the switch panel in place. One thing to do no matter which place you choose is to use a connector so that the panel can be removed and replaced easily. There is always something else you want to add later. I used a nine (should have used 11!!) conductor cable with 22 gage wires for the panel. The cable goes to a project box with relays to handle the heavier wires. That's a lot easier to deal with than a bunch of wires run independantly from the panel to the switched devices. A real concern if you use an overhead panel. Another project box has the fuse blocks.
