Overhead Consul Removeal on 2002 Ram

I am having trouble removing the overhead consul on my2002 Ram to replace a map light switch. I have pushed the two tabs forward but it will not drop down to push back for removal. What am i doing wrong and how far does front have to come down. I do not want to brek it

I have watched several videos including you tube and thy al say it can be hard but none say how far down it must go.
