Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Overhead Display Question?

Am curious if when I finish cycling thru the Overhead Display Options and then the screen goes "Blank"... does the computer actually "Turn Off" or is the Display just now "Dark" while the computer continues to function in the background?



Where I am is headed with this question is "would having the display "Blank" extend the service life of the Overhead Display System? I imagine that replacing that part maybe rather expensive???

Don't know... but my 97 w/ 215K on it still works fine, and I actually see them every now and then for sale for less than $100...

Calculations are still working, display is not. Trip computer is in a different place.

I like mine to continueously display outside temperature(below freezing could be ice) and compass(so I don't get lost).

BManuel is correct, all calculations are still being done, just the display is off.



I guess some people dont like the display lit up at night.
