why is my fuel milage calculator always off by 2 miles per gallon. it shows 11. 50 and i get 9. 50 hand calculated. that is towing with a 06 mega cab made in june 06. my 03 that i just traded never got below 11. 80 hand calculated. 60 miles less tank

Mine is just the opposite. It reads constistently 1. 7 mpg less than hand calc? Maybe a reflash will fix it?

break in?

Also the overhead guage takes some time to figure MPG when you change from towing to non-towing, city to highway.

The Mega is heavier than your QC SB and it has a more powerful (stock) engine. It wont get the same milage as the '03. I had an '03 QC SB HO auto with 3. 73s that consistently got 22-24 mpg. My '05 QC LB never did better than 18 and neither has my '06 Mega, and I have 25k miles on mine.

Actually, it's not that it's much heavier. Anything made after 2004. 5 was subject to new EPA requirements. So the engines were made more powerful but economy went into the dirt because of all the extra EPA crap they had to comply with. I've got 30 K on mine and I average 16 highway/city mix. The best I got was a trip to texas. I averaged about 18. 5 empty. My overhead consistantly reads 2 MPG high. I already got the reflash but it didn't make any difference. So now, I just don't look at it. If you're hand calculating anyway, what is it really good for?

Just hit the reset button when towing or not towing... this will re-establish "current" mileage much quicker... . wont really "fix" anything... just gets current mileage much quicker-BJ
