Today when I went to lunch I noticed my overhead temp dispaly was reading 28 F. I ddint pay much attention, because it was cold that morning, and was still chilly out. Well when i went home from work it was still reading 28. I Knew it had warmed up at least to in the 40s. about a mile down the road from work I looked up, and it had jumped to 54, which was beliveable. Anybody ever have anything like this happen? Im going to keep a close eye on it now,and see if it is a repeatable problem with a pattern.

Mine does something similar, pull out of the garage in the morning it's in the twenties but reads fifty which is the garage temp, doesn't change until I start down the road

Mine freaks out pretty regularly in the summer, usually after being parked for a while. I'll come out and it will read well over 100 (I think 126 was the highest) and will stay that way for a while, then suddenly drops. I figured something is wacky with the sensor. I've been told it's behind the grill, but I haven't been able to find it.

Yes, mine does the same thing... . if it sits for a while it will read one thing, then about 5 miles down the road it will be accurate. Mine is always dead on with the temps posted on other billboards I pass!

pop the hood, and on the drivers side half way up where the grill covers, you will see a little black sensor with a 2 wire connection there. that is it i believe

Check the owners manual as I think it talks about the display not being updated unless the truck is moving above a certain speed. This was to help keep from getting big jumps when sitting in slow traffic or at stop signs.

Mine was consistently 20 degrees high.

I could only put up with it for a month or so - the next time it was at the dealer I had them check it out.

It was the sensor.

I wanted to buy it and save the $30 installation by the dealer but they wouldn't sell it to me with out charging the $30 cause of the troubleshooting they did.

I believe the sensor was like $20 or so - next time it gives me trouble I am buying the sensor to see if that works before having the dealer look at it.

Thats one thing we miss about the 92 Caravan we had, turn the key and the reading was instant. I guess they got away with that then due to sensor location in relation to the engine. Now we have to wait for the update.

One thing my overhead has done odd is it won't read anything on any setting, just a few dash marks. Its happened 3 times in 24K. The only fix was to to cycle the key off and then on again.

I had that problem with the HEMI I had before this CTD. The temp would read whatever the temp was when the engine was shut off last for about 5 minutes, then jump to the real temp. The display then started to wack out (display all dashes, then go blank) on a regular basis. Of course, the dealer couldn't recreate the problem, so there was no problem. Three trips to the dealer, and every time it would do it on the drive home. It was still that way when I traded for the CTD. This truck's display works great.
