I pull a 5th wheel trailer with my '05 2500 CTD. Will I see noticeable decreases in trans temps with the extra capacity pans?

Products such a the steel pan with cooling tubes from Derale are much less expensive than the aluminum pans, but obviously would not dissipate heat like aluminum.

Both steel and aluminum pans come with drain plug so that's not an issue.

Any comments on effectiveness or brands of these extra capacity pans would be appreciated.

i have the mag hytec double deep. i did see s small drop in temp, but im more in for the extra capacity. im using the stock temp sensor that my edge picks up. some one with a diffrent guage set up , like a sensor in the hot line or in the pan, might beable to chim in and tell ya.

I had the Mag-Hytec on my old '91 - made *maybe* 5 degrees difference around town empty - but absolutely NO difference in the hills loaded. The main advantage, seems to be the added capacity - for whatever that's worth...

I have installed one on my 08 Dodge. I ran a gauge last year towing with out the Mag-Hytec pan and I have towed with the pan installed this year. I know that I have a different trans, but as a baseline of one temperature versus the new temperature reading this should give a good comparison.

Last year my temperature readings were 180F+ with an ambient readings of 80+ outside air temp. This year so far I have seen a 10 degree + drop in my trans reading temps. I am very happy with the Mag-Hytec pan and extra fluid capacity.

Just my $0. 02.

If the probe is in the pan, then you should a see a slight temp difference.

I read my temps on the hot line out of the transmission to the coolers. I saw a zero difference in indicated temps between the OEM pan and the MagHytec DD.

If one were serious about transferring heat, they could build a pan out of pure copper or pure silver.
