I am looking for an oversized replacement tank for my 1992 w250. I am trying to get rid of the aux. fuel tank in the bed (or maybe reduce the size of it some). I saw aerotank has a 60 gallon replacement tank (reviews are mixed though). But that was all I found.

Thanks!

I have also been looking for a larger replacement tank for my 90 they all go in the bed as aux tanks. I would like to find someone with a new transfer flow for a second gen and see what would have to be done to fit it in to a first gen

Anyone know the measurements for the transfer flow tanks?

I called a local welder and he said he should be able to make one pretty easy (out of aluminum even). I would just have to come up with the measurements.

Anyone know what the stock fuel tank measurements are? I got some rough measurements from under my truck but if someone had one off that they could measure it would be better.

Thanks.

I thought about going this route, but after you look at all the angles, bumpouts, frame cutouts, and other "hard to measure" dimensions, you may want to reconsider making your own.

Here is the picture of a TransferFlow tank: http://www.transferflow.com/html/dodge_midship_fuel_tank.html

Have fun... ;)

Am I Missing Something Here???

That link is for 2nd & 3rd Gen trucks. We already know that they have a wide choice of tanks.

Where can I buy another tank? Today I looked at the possibility of another tank on the outside of the frame. It would work ok I think. Probably not as big as the primary tank, but easily 20-30 gallons. Then you either have to add a fill nozzle or plumb it to the other tank somehow.

That would work... or just build one to go in the spare tires place, that would get you another 30 gal. or so.

This sounds like a good option. Could build a simple rectangular tank that would hold alot in this area. Might even be able to reuse a salvage yard tank from something else? Maybe a chevy suburban or something.

Doesn't transfer flow make one that goes in place of your spare? I've seen a few 1st gens with a filler on the left rear of the bed and a tank underneath.

those could be from a RAM CHARGER????Thats what I was thinking.

If there are any self serve junk yards near you, look for late 60s early 70s Ford pick-ups. Most seem to have some type of tank added to them. My 72 had one between the left bedside and frame in front of the left rear tire. The filler just stuck out of the end into the wheelwell. It was easy to fill and was virtually invisible.
