I was not really sure which forum would apply BUT there is a camper on the back of the truck so into the "Towing, Hauling and RV" forum it will go.

We are fortunate to be friends with Ozy and Steffi and are surprised that they don't feel some of their journeys are noteworthy....

A trek to Lapland and back from Switzerland (in the wintertime, no less) I find to be right up there in noteworthy status......just sayin'......:D

Over 5,000 mile round trip...did I mention that it was right in the dead of winter??? I have obtained their permission to share the photo album with you all, also trying to talk Steffi into writing a story to go with......if so you will see it in this thread first....

Here is the link to the album, Steffi has commentary in these. The easiest way to see that is once it opens click on the tractor trailer photo, then go to the second photo, click on "more" on the text at the bottom and a side window opens and will remain open as you go through the pictures.....

Enjoy!!! I certainly did.....

The route taken...

Beautiful pictures! Love all the shots of sunrise and sunset.

RE convoys, from what I've seen the lead and tail are generally an experienced driver of that particular route and in contact with each other via radio. Maybe even a plow truck if in an area with potential for heavy snowfall.

Thanks Mike for sharing there adventure to the northern snow and ice country , beautiful pictures, keep them coming!

A Class8 with a plow in Front and the last vehicle of the convoy is also a plow. So no one gets lost on the journey.

Ok, Thanks!! I assumed it would be someone that would stay in the road like a plow or police....

On snowy nights with poor visibility on the Interstate I have witnessed someone up front leave the road and then a couple of cars will follow the wheel tracks and be right out of the road with them......at least they are not alone while they wait for the wrecker.....:D

Curious southern here, looking at the images, which are beautiful by the way, it looks like a lot of your very cold nights are in very remote areas. Did you leave the truck idling all night on those nights? Also what kind of heat do you use in the camper?

Hi Bari
To let it idle it wasn't cold enough, I would think about it at -40°C but not at the -30C° we had.
I have an Espar Heater each for the Engine and for the Camper. Also the stove runs on Diesel. So I dont use Propane in the Truck. The Camper has 225Amp/H Battery Capacity. So we are well prepared for every climate or weather.
