Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) P - 0216, Need Help

My truck has been cutting out and losing power at different times under different situations at warm and cold tempatures. Sometimes it will do it right when I start it, then sometimes it won't do it at all. Took it to the dealership, they checked the fuel psi and said everything was fine. After all when I took it to the dealership it wouldn't do its little trick. Checked the codes today and I had two codes P-1693 and P-0216. Does anyone know what these codes mean. Thanks for any help.

Po216 is injection pump timing failure,if the fuel pressure is good,you need a vp-44. The 1693 was probably in the pcm it simply means to look in the ecm for the code that exists.

Nortex, I had the same codes and an intermittent surging and stumble. It would come and go. My lift pump was gone and the dealer changed out the injection pump as well. No questions asked all under warranty with 43,000 on truck. Take it to the dealer and have them check it again or take it some where else . Sandbrew

I had my fuel pressure gauge hooked up before the fuel filter and had great pressure. Then the check engine light came on!! 0216!

When I moved the gauge to the injector pump I discovered that the fuel filter was plugged. Changed filter and the problem went away. Has run great since.
