If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll look it up in the Powertrain Diagnostics Manual when I get home this evening.

i think i know what it is...

found out today that the transmission cooling lines are leaking... . just a possibility...

As Promised...

According to page 149 of the Powertrain Diagnostics Manual,

P0483 - Fan Speed

Set Condition: the actual fan speed does not match the commanded fan speed.

There's a huge list of troubleshooting steps and possible causes. Here's a few possible causes:

-Signal circuit short to supply circuit.

-Signal wire open from ECM to fan clutch assembly

-Signal circuit shorted to ground inside the ECM

I'd say either the fan clutch is toast, or there's a problem with the electrical connector. If you don't want to take it to the dealer, I recommend unplugging the electrical connector at the fan clutch and cleaning it out good. Then check for continuity with ECM pin 10 on connector C2 (it's the smaller of the 2 connectors... 50 pins).

If that checks out, plug it back into the fan clutch and carefully monitor your coolant temperature. The code will clear after 40 consecutive warmup cycles without the problem appearing again.

Make sure the wiring did not get into the fan. Several of the harnesses have got loose and the fan takes them out in a hurry.
