After doing some work on the truck today, I forgot to tighten one of the boost hose clamps... I got a check engine light, that went away after being shut down for a while, but I still have the 1693 code. Is there any way to clear this code?

(Just read that this is for trucks out of commission, and mine is not, if the moderator feels this needs to be moved, please do so!)

TIA

Jim, you might try disconnecting the battery's for a while. But I'm just guessing here, but I think I would try that first.

chuck. :)

Thanks, Chuck!

That is what I was thinking, but with the search engine down, I had to ask! I installed the Blue Chip pump cover today and like a bonehead, forgot to tighten down 1 boost hose clamp, I think that set an "underboost code" ????? Not sure, but it sounds reasonable to me.

Like greg said it will clear itself after a certain amount of time without the problem Or you can disconnect the batteries for 15-30 minutes (making the time up:rolleyes: ) That worked for me when I got a code for forgetting to plug in the map sensor once.

One question, why did you mess with the intake system while doing the pump cover?

Ted

Ted,

I pulled the intake horn because it gave me more room to work with. With the intake horn out of the way, I could move the boost pipe over and lay the throttle housing over and get better access to the top of the pump.

BTW, I pulled the battery cables for an hour or so last night and the code was cleared.

glad it went away Jim. There is nothing worse than the feeling in your stomach after an upgrade when that checdk engine light comes on. :( I have to put my pump cover back on tomorrow as my truck was in at the stealer today. Sucks runnin without that comp:D

Ted

Yes, it is a sinking feeling when the ol' check engine light comes on... sure am glad it went away :D

Just getting used to running mine with the Comp and I am sure I would miss it if I had to take it off :{
