I know that some folks have done this and hope that they will share their information and experiences.

I am researching throttle linkage related goodies for Deo Read (therabbittree). He's unable to access the internet and has very limited access to a phone during the week.

I offered to help him find some parts so that he can bolt up his P-7100 out of an 8. 3L Cummins into his 1st-Gen.

I know that some folks used parts out of an International truck application, but am unsure if/how they made the kickdown/throttle valve cable work...

Thanks in advance,

Matt

It's funny you posted this today. I actually saw a P-Pump on a 1st gen cummins. It WAS (was being the keyword) in a Case tractor today. Unfortuneatly they already pulled the pump off or I would take pics for you tommorow, but I will see if I can't figure it out in the morning and tommorow night about this time if I can I will post on what I figure out.

Hope it can help

Russell

Thanks Russell.

I'm starting to think that finding a 2nd-Gen, 12-valve, auto truck in a junkyard would be the best solution to getting all the little throttle linkage stuff...

Matt

I have a P pump in my 1992, but alas, it is a 5 speed, so the linkages are different. I will see if I can get a picture of the linkage plate that had to be made. Sure is a great modification, and well worth the extra $$$.

brkoyle: On behalf of Deo... Thank You!

He's trying to make use of what he has and it sounds like you did the same thing. Every little bit of info helps... even if there are minor details that don't match...

Matt

Well I am of no good to you, by the time I got there this morning, he had pulled off all the linkages, and sent everything to be cleaned or junked, all that was left was the pump, he's hanging on to that for me until I decide if it needs to fall into the cab of my truck to bring home... LOL

Russell

This is a picture of the linkage for my p-7100. As you can see, the cruise cable is not attached. The cruise has not worked since I have owned the truck. I have some more pictures that I will scan in later.

brkoyle: Thank you for posting those pictures... they're worth at least a few thousand words. :)

Joe: Take a look at this picture... #ad

This is an OEM P-7100/6BT gearcase that has been modified to allow the use of a P-7100 out of an 8. 3L... so your statement that you can't use a P-7100 out of an 8. 3L is not entirely true.
