Which 4 in. exaust? JRE or Jardine?

The past 10 days have been a very busy time for us. We finished testing the POWER EDGE, TC, AND 275 Injectors. We took our program to (Mission Raceway Park)stock the truck ran
18:37 at 75mph. With only the Power Edge added the truck ran 16:76 at 84 mph. that calculated to a 91HP gain with stock exhaust and air cleaner. Saturday night we added the 275 injectors, first pass Sunday 15:76 at
87mph, power increase of 39HP. With the POWER EDGE there was little to no smoke, the 275 injectors added plenty of smoke down the entire 1/4 mile.
We got a little talking to by the race officials for the excessive smoke. Dumping diesel fuel on the race track at the Canadian National open was not well recieved. The 275 injectors are not really high on my must have list. The numbers indicate they do not yield the power gains
i believe ive heard and read they advertise.
I bought my 275 injectors through Baker
Diesel very reasonably. The 275 injectors if you know the BOSCH part number range in price from $285. to $310. 0, if you have to use somebody elses part number they sell for $499. 00.
The POWER EDGE delivered the advertised HP increase of 91HP. After the power increases the TC still maintained a fluid coupling efficiency of 93. 6% in 3rd gear at the 1/8 mile marker.
The track officials did however say when they were able to see again, that they never saw any Dodge Diesel do a burnout quite like that. Lucky for us someone video taped it and is sending me a copy.

Bill. . If a guy was switching from a life long of shifting to a auto in a new truck that was to be BOMBed to about 475/500 HP. . what do you recommend [and in what order] to handle this power level and also handle a large fifth wheel. . [rig will have a exhust brake installed]. .
also after market trans coolers recomendations
bottom line the "bullit proof trans. "
I know we don't talk prices on the board. . so with that said how about a ball park # for building the ultimate trans. .

Mick2500 - Re: Bosch numbers i dont have the part numbers here at home, i will post them tomorrow unless someone beats me to it.

Scott- At this time we are monitoring the TC effieciency, TC temperature and HP changes as they affect the fluid coupling of the TC.
We are presently waiting for the Guages we are having custom built for our next phase of testing which is the EGT, fuel pressure.
We will post the test results in the next 2 weeks for those that are interested.

willyslover- anyone that promises you a bullet proof transmission is full of s--t.
A bullet proof transmission is a salesman's term.
I have built transmissions ranging from Allisons in garbage trucks to 2000HP blown alcohol door cars. One of the main factors seems to be controlling the transmission temperature. In the Dodge Ram most people tend to control the trans temp. using the TC clutch. While that does help control your temp. the maximum torque that clutch lining can handle at 133PSI is 635ft lbs of torque.
The transmission itself if built correctly can handle well over 900ft lbs of torque using the existing hard parts. Beyond that you start getting into custom building components and huge dollars.
Willy the trans cost can range anywhere from 1400 - 3200 depends on your builder. Some of the factors to consider are:
Does the trans require hard parts?
Is the front pump assembly being modified?
Has the 2nd gear apply lever ratio been altered from 3. 8 to 4. 2/5. 0?
Has the 2nd gear band strutt been changed?
Has the high gear clutch drum and piston pressure plate been modified to alter from 4 fibres to 5 /6 fibres?
Has the fwd. clutch pack been modified from
4 fibres to 5 fibres?
Has the front planetary gear on the 94 & 95 been changed from 5 pinion aluminum carrier to a steel carrier?
Has the intermediate shaft lubrication circut been modified, if so how?
Has the OD clutch clearance been altered from the factory setting of . 220-. 250 to . 120 and if so how?
Has the OD direct clutch fibre setup been altered?
Has the valve body modifications been done?
MAG-HYTEC PAN?
All these things and more and the builder you choose add up to a quality rebuilt transmission.
 
Bill--Just curious, what altitude are you testing your combo at? The reason I ask, is relative to the PE, + injectors and your EGT's. Thanks, Ron

TURKEY> and yes it is a Bosch Injector.
I contacted Baker Diesel Injection and talked to Jason, i unfortunaely quoted a special deal he gave John, i am in trouble again. After my very apologetic conversation with Jason he said that eventhough his retail price was not exactly what i quoted he will offer a special price till the end of August /2000. His number is 1-801-731-2921. Now you guys know why im not in sales.

You guys are getting SHARP, the altitude was at 650ft. at Mission Raceway Park that weekend.
